So, feeling energized lately, I mean, like brain buzzing, and fingers itching to write.
My thoughts turn to selling a screenplay and learning how to pitch.
If I understand all the information I've gathered, a pitch is like a really succinct anecdote that tells your story in the fewest words possible.
So, I thought I would practice a written pitch, here, with all of you.
*ahem*
Here we go!
UNDEAD BEFORE SUNRISE
Samantha, gorgeous 20something film student from a small town, finds out from her grandmother, Mama JuJu the voodoo priestess, that she has to kill two famous movie stars of a popular horror romance film franchise.
Turns out, Kat Korman and Rex Axel, stars of the wildly popular UNDEAD film series are actually a zombie and vampire, respectively.
These two famous creatures are using their features to attend premieres of their films in small towns to convert the local population to a new and improved undead; zombie vampire crossbreeds, as hard to kills as a cockroach.
Samantha's home town is next on the list, so she returns to find her ex boyfriend Billy, sexy wannabe policeman and currently mall cop, and his best friend Kevin, handsome and smart mall cop, are already in trouble with the undead taking over the local mall. She finds them and recruits them to her cause, along with their douchey but loyal companion Pete, the wolf man.
They gather their weapons; tomato juice, holy water and water blasters and set out to kill the scourge of vambies, or possibly zompires, but not without dire consequences. Kevin is taken out of things and Billy swears vengeance, racing off half cocked and furious about the fate of his friend. Sam and Pete go with him, hoping to channel his fury into something useful, like murdering the Queen of the Zombies and King of the Vampires.
A full on confrontation leaves the King and Queen dead, but the crossbreed army has lost control and rampage through the mall.
Sam, Billy and Pete lead them to the food court for the final show down where they are able to destroy the whole horde.
Afterwards, Sam leaves in pursuit of more undead, but not before we find that Kevin isn't quite dust to dust, bringing about a happy reunion for the two best friends. Pete is the last supernatural in town and is mostly harmless.
On the road, Sam takes a pit stop and realizes that there might be more than one supernatural creature roaming the environs of her home town.
