Aim For The Goal Posts

Well, 2017 is almost done...and I will be glad to see the back of it.

It's been a rough year both personally and creatively.

I won't divulge the personal, but the creative has been rough.

So many ideas have come to me, but I decided early on that instead of working on new stuff, I would review and revise what I already have completed.

In that respect, the review was hard but the revisions came relatively fast and furious.

As you know, I revised UNDEAD BEFORE SUNRISE, but I also worked on 12:01 (aka HIGH NOON APOCALYPSE), THE PERFECT WOMAN, EAT AT JOE'S and KEY TO PARADISE.

Just a quick rundown of those projects are, UBS is a horror comedy; 12:01 is thriller/sci fi, TPW is comedy, EAJ is horror/comedy and KTP is sci fi/action.

I'm all over the place when it comes to genre. I like the variety.

The status of all of these revisions is:

UBS - revision five complete, readers are reading and I'm awaiting notes.

12:01 - outline came back from one reader, waiting on a couple of others.

TPW - Curly and I discussed and think we have found the direction the rewrite should go.

EAJ - still in progress, can't find the hook but I will.

KTP - is with readers and awaiting feedback.

So that's it for this year. But what about next?

Goals for 2018, in no particular order:

1. Finish UBS rewrites and submit to producers. Alternatively I will try and crowdsource funding.

2. Write first draft of 12:01.

3. Re-outline TPW and do rewrite number three.

4. Workshop EAJ with Curley and Red, see if between the three of us we can find the hook.

5. See if KTP is ready to sell, and if so, embark on selling it.

6. Finish outline for THE SWAMP DWELLERS, horror/thriller.

7. Finish outline for THE WHITE BOX TEST, short thriller.

And I think that's enough to start the year with. With luck, perseverance and sheer willpower, I will with luck get an option on at least one.

And that's the round up for this year, along with my goals for next.

Feel free to drop me a line at unicornfilmslimited@gmail.com ... ask me how I'm doing or if you are a producer/director looking for scripts, I'm also available to discuss.

Thanks and Happy New Year!
